THEY ARE A GROUP OF GUYS DEDICATED TO DRINKING SINGLE MALT SCOTCH,SMOKING FINE CIGARS AND TRAVELLING THE WORLD IN SEARCH OF GOLFING ECSTASY. THEY ARE CURRENTLY PLANNING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THEIR VERY OWN GOLF MONOSTERY IN UPSTATE NEW YORK CLOSE BY AN ARRAY OF EXOTIC STRIP CLUBS.
BROTHER THOMAS ALSO YESTERDAY ANNOUNCED THAT HAL JACOBS THE UNFORTUNATE COMPETITOR IN THE HONDA CLASSIC WHO SHOT A 91 CAN BE "SAVED" BY THE GOLFING MONKS AND GIVEN THE GIFT TO FIND HIS TRUE GOLF SOUL.
STATS ARE NONSENSE
THE UNFORTUNATE HAL JACOBS MAKING HIS PGA TOUR DEBUT THIS WEEK AT THE HONDA CLASSIC SHOT A 91 IN THE FIRST ROUND HITTING 64% OF THE FAIRWAYS AND AVERAGING 304 YARDS OFF THE TEE AND 44% OF GREENS HIT IN REGULATION AND HAD 38 PUTTS http://pgatour.com/players/scorecard/1098582/r010/2006 CLICK THIS LINK TO SEE.
NOW COMPARE THIS TO THE NUMBER ONE PLAYER IN THE WORLD AT THIS YEARS NISSAN OPEN 2nd ROUND , TIGER HIT 50% OF FAIRWAYS , HAD A DRIVING AVERAGE OF 310 YARDS , HIT 56% OF THE GREENS AND HAD 31 PUTTS YET WAS ALMOST 20 SHOTS BETTER THAN HAL, IN FACT TIGER ONLY HIT 7% OF HIS FAIRWAYS IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE TORREY PINES TOURNAMENT WHICH HE WON. VERY CONFUSING.

Counterfeit Golf Retailer Jailed
Today, while reading the business headlines on yahoo.com, I noticed a press release from the United States Golf Manufacturers Anit-Counterfeiting Working Group, which stated that a golf retailer in Shanghai had been convicted of selling counterfeit golf equipment.
According to the press release, the retailer, who's name is interestingly Xie Fu Ping, "was sentenced to 1 year's imprisonment (suspended for 1 year) and ordered to pay a fine. The criminal conviction followed enforcement conducted by the Chinese authorities in August 2005 when the police raided Xie's store and seized counterfeit golf inventory valued at US$57,682."
I am glad that the foreign authorities are cracking down on counterfeit clubs.
Also, for those interested, "The U.S. Golf Manufacturers Anti-Counterfeiting Working Group consists of the world's leading golf equipment manufacturers. Its members and brands include Acushnet Company - Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra Golf; Callaway Golf - Odyssey, Top-Flite and Ben Hogan; Cleveland Golf-Never Compromise; Nike; PING; and TaylorMade-adidas Golf - Maxfli."

the sequel. Reeves denied earlier that contract negotiations had broken down when Reeves was asked to be a Top! Reeves quipped "Hell i've never been a top unless you
count a sandwich.
I guess the Co=Star turned me around!" MW

"I just learned how to relax and swing it"......

David Toms (shown above) must be on muscle relaxers, eh? he's most certainly the calmest of the calm out there. Sure he flashes those false teeth at you most of the time but still, why is he so relaxed? The former LaQuinta res is our pick to end up with the "BIG CHECK" on sunday. But ask yourself this...is it wright? MW

Another bad hair day.....

Charlie Hoffman is one of the good guys now on tour and has plenty of game to win on tour. At 30 Charlie has fought his way to the top spot through the nationwide tour finishing 19th last year. He bombs it and has a good all around game. A few years ago at Q-School one of JacknCoke Jeff's students was paired with Charlie in the 2d stage at Oak Valley. We walked along with the 2sum and had a great time listening to Charlie and his trials along the way. His titlest clubs were stolen the previous nite and the company made sure Charlie had clubs to play with the next day.
He played well and went on to the finals but missed the big tour by a few shots. Two years later he's at the big show and has moved up nicely on the money list to 84th this week. Today he shot 5 under, go get'em Charlie! MW
