Palm Springs Life

desert golfer

Each afternoon around 3:30 Peeheed and I venture out for a few relaxing holes of smallball. It's been a great January so far with temps
in the mid 70's to as high as 85 degrees. In comparison my former hometown has had like 25 straight days of RAIN! Anyhow these late
afternoon rounds have proven an effective practice regimen. Just think of it. Water left, out of bounds wright and no mulligan! Even with
nothing on the line it's a bit of pressure. The key ofcourse is a good setup, aim, and a swing that's in balance. Can this be taught? absolutely!
While a proper setup is really the easiest part of the entire process we find that most students have no idea of what a good setup feels like.
When shopping for an instructor it makes sense to ask first about the correct setup. If you get a peeheed stare then move on and find another instructor.

This week the Wie Sony Open, next week the Hope Classic with skys of Blue. Wei will choke and miss the cut yet again and she should. She's 16 friggin years old and not ready for primetime. I look for her to hit it left alot and you know how Hogan feels about that. This will be the result of trying to hit it too hard. Remember Michelle....good setup and aim and then swing on balance...LOL. Here in the desert the courses will once again lose the tournament to a volley of birds and eagles. The weather is just plain perfect with little wind to date and warm temps.
Hell! Even David Duval will go lower than Wie in my view. Shanks for the memories, MW
